Chinook wrestling had a last-minute schedule change over the weekend, wrestling in Harlem instead of Shelby. New Media Broadcasters caught up with head coach Ben Stroh to ask his impressions on how the team did coming out of the Christmas break.
“We saw a lot of great new things from the kids,” Stroh said. “There were some solid kids at Harlem.”
“I was happy with seeing our kids advance and try the new things that we’ve been working on through the Christmas break,” Stroh continued. “It was a good way to get them back going and get them motivated here moving forward into the second half of (our) season.”
The teams will now focus on a smaller mixer in Chester, followed by an invite in Cut Bank. Stroh shouted out some of the teams that will be making their way west and said how these wrestling clubs will help them game plan for what they hope is a successful second half of the season.
“That mixer, that’s going to be a big one. We’ve got Fergus coming,” Stroh said. “Even at Cut Bank, I hear Huntley Project is coming. Those are some big schools that we don’t see a whole lot through the season.”
“That’s why we go to these and keep running into different teams and the same teams,” Stroh continued. “To see where we’re at and to see what works on what people and from different what side of the state.”
The C-J-I Mixer will be held on Thursday, while the Cut Bank Invite is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
