(Great Falls) In response to escalating safety concerns within detention facilities, Montana legislators George Nikolakakos (nick-o-lack-o-kos), Steve Kelly, Steve Fitzpatrick, and Neil Duram have introduced House Bill 605.
This bill would amend current strip search regulations of the Montana Code Annotated.
The new bill states that anyone who will be held within a jail or correctional facility may be subject to a strip search if there for more than 12 hours. The bill also states that someone detained for a non-felony offense is exempt from this rule, unless there’s reasonable suspicion that person is concealing evidence, weapons, or drugs.
