Hyalite Canyon Recreation Corridor closing April 1st.

(Bozeman) The annual spring closure of Hyalite Canyon Recreation Corridor to all motorized vehicles will begin on April 1st through May 15th, with anticipated reopening on May 16th. Hyalite Canyon is located south of Bozeman on the Bozeman Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest.

Forest officials say this temporary closure is vital for the preservation of the road infrastructure during the spring thaw. As temperatures rise and snow melts, the ground underneath Hyalite Road becomes saturated, unable to withstand the strain of motorized traffic.

The public is asked to slow down and use caution around machinery if they encounter maintenance vehicles on the road.
