MSU-Northern has its first cross country signee of the 2025 offseason. Kaitlyn Bancroft, a transfer from Bismarck State in North Dakota, will transfer to run for the Skylights this fall. Bancroft is originally from Montana, hailing from Joliet and graduating from its public school system in 2023. Her best time is 23:52.9 in competition, which earned her an NJCAA National Qualifier recognition.
“I’m very excited that Kaitlyn will be going to MSU-Northern and joining our cross country and track team” MSU-Northern cross country coach Debbie Callahan said in a press release. “She has a great attitude, works hard, team player and understands the balance between academics and running.”
“Kaitlyn has the desire and determination to be successful as an individual and will make our team stronger,” Callahan continued.
In her first season at Bismarck State, she was part of an upstart program immediately that was in the preseason poll’s “also receiving votes” category to ranked fifth. This was deemed by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as week 1’s biggest mover of the 2023-24 season.
“The reason why I chose to go to MSU-Northern is to continue my education and get an education degree in English,” Bancroft said in the same press release. “The school that I attended previously did not have the degree that I was going into.”
Bancroft will have two years of eligibility remaining once she steps onto Northern’s campus this fall.
