Havre softball is (6-3) on the season and is sitting in an undefeated position for conference play. New Media Broadcasters caught up with head coach Tony Vigliotti and he expressed continued success in the batters’ box and the circle.
“Well, I think we’ve been playing pretty good softball,” Vigliotti said. “(4-0) in the Northeast conference, so we’re right where we want to be.”
“We want to finish in the top two (for) our side in the Northeast ‘A’ to get the automatic qualifier to the state tournament, so that’s goal number one,” Vigliotti continued.
“We picked up a couple of conference wins last week (at Glasgow and versus Sidney), which was huge for us midway through the season,” Vigliotti said.
The annual Bette Paskey Memorial Invite is scheduled for this weekend. Coach Vig gave a rundown of what is to come in another high stakes environment as the team continues to trek towards divisionals and state next month.
“I love our schedule over there,” Vigliotti said. “We get to play two of the perennial, better Class ‘A’ teams year in and year out in Frenchtown and Polson.”
“That’ll give us an opportunity to see where we’re at in this stage of the season,” Vigliotti continued. “Then, we also play Corvallis and Hamilton over there.”
“That’s kind of what you get into when you get into postseason tournament play,” Vigliotti said. “Just another opportunity to get ourselves the field, get some quality at-bats, (and) get ourselves in some situations that we’ll have to deal with.”
