Track and Field Results – Norm Girard Top 10 Invite

Competitors from Havre and Chinook took to Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon for the 43rd annual Norm Girard Top 10 track and field invite, competing against other eastern Montana schools from Classes ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ with a top-8 leaderboard and medalists in the top-4.

A Suagrbeeter medaled in the 100 and so did a Blue Pony. Carson Nissen ran an 11.48 for a personal best and second place finish, while Kaydance Reiter won another sprint at 12.58. Ela Harber and Macee May each ran their personal bests at 12.83 and 13.06, respectively for third and fourth place.

The Ponies dominated the girls’ 200. Reiter won at 25.17, while Macy Brandon finished third with a 25.94 and Harber ran a PR 26.28 for fourth. Nissen came through with another PR for the boys’ and crossed the 200 at 23.06 for second.

Brandon was the girls’ 400 winner, coming in at 58.87. Charley Nissen from Chinook was a PR third-place finisher and did so in 1:00.91.

In the 800, Chinook had a couple of placers. Owen Davies ran his personal best at 2:08.90 for fourth place, while Alexus Seymour was in third place at 2:31.75.

Moving to the 1600 and Mason Gregoire for Havre secured runner-up status with a 4:44.66. Britt Powell from Chinook had his best run of 5:00.87 for fourth place. Sugarbeeter Ashlyn Ford ran her best 1600 at 5:26.97 to get second place.

For the second straight meet, Neva Lowe won the 3200 as she achieved 12:12.71 for her best time ever. A couple of Ponies were third and fourth in Hailey Gingery (12:43.51) and Gracie Shandorf (13:23.20).

Gage Chapman hurdled his way to a fourth-place finish in the 300 for the Ponies and did so for an individual record-time of 44.59.

Havre won another girls’ 4-by-100 relay race with Harber, Brandon, May, and Reiter collecting 50.25. Brandon and Harber stayed in along with Emily Leeds and Live Cote to take second in the 4-by-400. Tyson Brandon, Cooper Walton, Tre Gary, and Colter Solomon made up the 4-by-400 boys’ team that finished fourth for Havre at 3:39.75.

Moving to the field, Tommy Lewis won the shot put again as the Blue Pony got a 47-foot and six-inch throw. Hannah Schoen from Chinook got third in shot put with a 36 and three-quarters heave. She also got second in the javelin, chucking it 108 feet and two inches.

In the high jump, a couple of Beeters tied for first as Jameson Nordboe and Oliver Standiford cleared six feet. Ari Gary from Havre medaled with a fourth place jump of four feet and 10 inches.

Nissen won the long jump, achieving his mark at 21 feet and four inches. May got a third-place triple jump performance of 34 feet and two inches.

The Blue Ponies and Sugarbeeters track and field teams will reconvene for the Havre Lions Meet on Saturday.
