(Havre) As previously reported by New Media Broadcasters, Dixie Schroeder Havre community member and worker with the Rescue Rack, was recently killed via homicide in Havre.
Since then, those close to her at the Rescue Rack and the PAWS of Chinook Animal Shelter have been working to develop and handful of projects intended to continue her memory. New Media Broadcasters spoke with PAWS President Alissa Hewitt.
“Our little team is putting together a scholarship fund, which we are working seriously on right now, as well as a memorial bench to set up at Mt. Otis because she really loved going up there”
Schroeder was also the handler for King, a rescued animal that lives at the Rescue Rack, who Hewitt says is now abruptly without his handler. Hewitt has encouraged those with the time to volunteer to come meet King and to consider adopting him into their family.
