(NMB) The Havre Northstars American Legion Baseball team is eight games into their season and currently sit at 3 and 5 on the year. With the High School Spring sports season finished, Havre should have all their guys together for the most part from here on out, something that has only happened a few times so far this year.
Havre will be back on their home Field Friday night (Tonight) as they will open up North District Conference play against the Great Falls Chargers. Head Coach Ryan Divish says the season’s first goal is to win the North District and he told New Media Broadcasters what he thinks it will take to get off to a good start in conference play.
“It just starts with doing a lot of the little things, that’s what we’ve really been trying to impress on the guys. Not giving up extra outs in the field or giving up extra bases. Being cognizant of when they need to make plays and when they should just put the ball in their back pocket and not throw it. With each game and a little bit more game experience they’re getting better. You can’t really replicate some of that stuff in practice, the speed of the game and things. Having to think on your feet.”
The conference opener is tonight (Friday) at Legion Field. It will be one 7 inning game scheduled to start at 7pm
