(Eugene, Ore) – Montana State University senior and native of Cashmere, WA, Rob McManus concluded his extraordinary career on the track at the NCAA outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene Oregon on friday.
McManus finished 8th the championships by posting a career best in the steeple chase event with a time of 8 minutes and 25.83 seconds, which at the same time claimed the second best time in the event in school history, by beating out his old personal record. However McManus’ time was not only a personal best, it was also the 11th fastest an American has ran the race this year and the 88th fastest recorded time for an American runner in history.
The 8th place finish helped McManus reach a 1st team All-American selection, and the second most in All-American selections in program history with 4. On top of 4 All-American selections McManus’ finishes his career with All-Big Sky and All-Region Honors in Cross country, a top 15 finish at the national indoor track championships, 2 straight Big Sky Titles in the Steeplechase.
McManus’ Head Coach Lyle Weese stated that “It’s definitely on of the better all-time years by a distance runner in Montana State History”.
