(NMB) Summer is the time for High School basketball teams to work on their games for the upcoming season that officially starts in November. That’ exactly what the Havre Blue Pony boys team has been doing. We caught up with head coach Waylynn Burgess and he said the month of June was busy for his team as they traveled to Frenchtown, Dillon and Lockwood for some competition, which was good for a couple of reasons.
“Thought it was really good for us, throwing in different, younger kids in different positions. Just being able to get the group together and start kind of developing that team bond was just a really good aspect for us this summer.”
Now that the calendar has turned to July, the Ponies will focus on continuing to work on fundamentals.
“Kind of took this week to really focus on getting more of our individual stuff and then we’ll come together after the fourth of July and kind of roll from there until the end of July and just focus a lot on our own development of getting a lot of shots up and doing those different types of fundamental things we need to work on this summer.”
The High School basketball season for teams across Montana Officially gets underway the end of November.
