Ponies BB Summer Workouts Great for Young Guys

(NMB) As we reported earlier this week. The Havre Blue Ponies boys basketball team has been busy with their summer workouts. The month of June included playing games in Frenchtown, Dillon and Lockwood. Something that Havre head coach Waylynn Burgess (Burr-Jess) says is great for developing his younger kids, who don’t yet have any varsity experience.

“We’ve had to throw some younger kids in different positions that they’ve never played at the varsity level before and summer is a great time to throw them in the deep end and kind of see how they perform. I think there’s a lot of development that comes with stuff like that. Being able to throw kids in different situations and knowing that it’s summer and that these are just for us to try and get better and take your lumps and learn from it.”

Coach Burgess said summer workouts will continue through July with the focus being on working on individual skills and fundamentals.
