(NMB) – Four Dakota and one Nebraska schools headline as new members of the Frontier Conference. They enter alongside a former junior college school. This is part 2 of our two week long daily series breaking down Frontier Conference realignment with Montana State University-Northern’s Director of Athletics Christian Oberquell
The Bellevue University (bell-view) Bruins join the conference as a full time and lone member from Nebraska. Hailing from North Dakota are the Mayville state Comets, Valley City Vikings, and Dickinson State Blue Hawks. The Trojans of Dakota State University enter the conference as the only team from south Dakota. MSU-Northern AD Christian Oberquell talks of these new schools plus the Juco add.
“We have six new schools, one being a junior college, Bismark State who just jumped up to NAIA.” stated Oberquell “So we will have four North Dakota Schools, one South Dakota School and one Nebraska school.”
It’s one thing to be a single state conference but becoming a multiple state conference is a big step forward. That big step also includes more travel; Oberquell touches on that in tomorrow’s brake down involving the volleyball schedule.
