(NMB) – With 12 teams in the new look Frontier conference the 2025 volleyball tournament will have some major changes that may increase opportunity.
This is part five of the Frontier Conference realignment breakdown series. On yesterdays breakdown Montana State University Northern Athletics Director Christen Oberquell explain how tough of league it will be in 2025. Today’s breakdown focuses on the conference tournament and how it will play out with 12 teams. Oberquell says that the Conference may have a solid chance at getting more than two teams into the national tournament.
“Carroll College got the bid and the conference will only take the top 8 schools.” Said Oberquell, “But now that we have 12, we get 2 automatic qualifiers so no matter where we’re at number one and number 2 are going to automatically make the national tournament. Then it will go off rankings and power of your conference and so and so forth. So there’ll be a selection committee that will take top teams, so I’m expecting we could get 4 out of those eight teams possibly to the national tournament.”
The frontier conference doubles in size and in automatic bids to the national tournament giving more programs big opportunity.
