Havre NorthStar’s Split Against Medicine Hat.

(NMB) – Tuesday July 8th, the Havre NorthStars hosted the Medicine Hat Knights for afternoon double header that ended with a split.

In game one the NorthStars fell down 2-0 entering the bottom of the second. Havre’s offense gained momentum by driving in five runs to take a three-run lead and then added 10 more runs in the third and three runs in the fourth to win 18-6 after only five and half innings of baseball. Tommy Lewis led the team in RBIs with four on three hits. Tanner DeLarosa got the win on the mound pitching just over 2 innings, throwing five strikeouts and not giving up a single run.

Game 2 was a different ball game.  The Knights put up three runs in the first and second innings taking a 6-3 over the Northstars. Havre, however, came back to hold an 8-7 lead heading into the seventh inning. A great Knights performance saw their offense put up 3 runs to lead 10-8. Havre struggled in the bottom of the seventh and couldn’t muster a run leading to their defeat 10-8. Tommy Lewis again led the team with three RBIs on two hits. Quin Elliot pitched 4 innings, threw six strikeouts and gave up four runs on six hits.

The Northstars are now 28-11-1 on the year and 19-3 in conference play but still sit at the top of the North district standings. Up next for Havre is a double header bout with the Lethbridge Lakers at 5P.M. on Saturday July 12th followed by the Vauxhall Spurs on Sunday July 13th at 2pm.
