Havre, MT. – With a 14-team football league in the Frontier Conference, Montana State University-Northern’s non-conference schedule differs from years past.
This is part 8 of the daily realignment break down series with Montana State-Northern Athletic director Christen Oberquell.
In yesterday’s break down Oberquell gave the west division structure and explained how the automatic bid system will work for football in the 2025 season. Today’s break down features Oberquell’s insight on the MSU-Northern Schedule for both conference and non-conference games along with how the Lights could possibly get an automatic bid to the playoff.
“Our first four games that we play will be non-conference” Oberquell stated then continued saying “So the teams that we play in the east will count. Technically we could be 3-3, and if we win a tie breaker, we could get an automatic bid.” MSU-Northen AD also confirmed that the Lights first game will not be a conference game but the second game against will count towards the conference record.
Lights football starts the year off with Carroll College at Tilleman field on August 30th with kickoff at 1pm. Even though Carroll college is a member of the Frontier conference this game will not count as a conference game on the schedule Dickinson.
