Havre, MT – The calendar says July, which means the basketball season is still months away, but for the Havre High Blue Pony girls basketball program success starts in the offseason.
Every basketball player is always trying to improve their skills on the court. Head coach of the Pony’s, Tommy Brown, says that skill development has been the focus in the teams offseason open gyms.
“We always try to make our summer open gym more on skill development helping our kids expand their games.” said Coach Brown, “Whereas in season we are a little more team oriented.”
The Blue Pony’s had an excellent regular season in 2024-25 finishing 21-4 and earning a spot in the state tournament. After a 49-37 Victory over Bigfork in the first round of the state tournament, Havre ended up falling 46-42, to Beaverhead County, in the state semifinal but defeated Frenchtown and Bigfork in the consolation bracket to earn 3rd place.
