(NMB) Day two of the Great Northern Fair on Thursday was another busy day inside the bigger Better Barn for the 4H/FFA kids. The 4H/FFA beef show was held yesterday morning including the beef showmanship and market beef classes. Grand Champion Senior showman was Madelyn Myers, Reserve Champion was Carina Purkett. For those looking to buy beef, the Market beef category is an important one according to MSU Hill County Extension Agent Colleen Pegar.
“They want the best-looking animal out there to get the best steaks off of. So, they’re looking at how that animal is put together, how much finish they have. Our Grand Champion Market beef this year was Brooke Myers and our Reserve Champion was Carina Purkett.”
4H/FFA activities will run through Saturday with this year’s Livestock sale scheduled for Saturday morning at 11am in the Bigger Better Barn. There will be a 4H buyer/breeder appreciation breakfast at 9am prior to the sale. Tonight’s grandstand entertainment is night two of the Great Northern Ram NRA Rodeo. The performance begins at 7pm. The Great Northern Fair runs through Sunday.
