Northstars Drop Semifinal Thriller Post Weather Delay

Lewistown, MT –  After rain, hail and lightning forced a delay of the Havre Northstars North District A tournament semifinal matchup Saturday evening against Vauxhall, Havre Struggled holding a 4-2 lead suffering defeat 21-15.

The game resumed at the top of the fourth with zero outs and Vauxhall at the plate. Quinn Elliot had pitched the first three innings and was back on the mound Sunday morning. Vauxhall’s offense shifted gears to sore a combined 11 runs through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while Havre struggled at the plate only putting up two runs through those innings.

Entering the bottom of the seventh Vauxhall had extended their lead 15-6. The Northstars flipped the switched at the plate, forced two pitching changes and scored nine runs in the seventh to tie it up 15-15.

The eighth inning opened and closed in a flash with Teegan Solomon throwing three straight strike outs, and Vauxhall getting three fast outs of their own.

In nineth inning, Havre gave up six runs and saw themselves down 21-15 with two outs in the bottom of the nineth and Teegan Solomon at bat. Solomon grounded out to third, ending the game.

The Northstars took their first loss of the tournament and will take on the winner of game 14 between Tri-county and the Lethbridge Miners, later Sunday afternoon.
