(JORDAN) – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and contractor Central Specialties, Inc. have paused work on the Flowing Wells East & West project. This project involves the reconstruction of 7 miles of Montana Highway 200 (MT 200), starting approximately 2 miles west of the Flowing Wells Rest Area, and extending eastward, crossing the intersection with Montana Highway 24 (MT 24). Crews are expected to resume construction in the spring and complete the project in 2026.
Over the winter, drivers will travel on a gravel surface through the project area, from 2 miles west of the Flowing Wells Rest Area, extending east for 7 miles. Remember to watch your speed, as the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph in this area.
The project will reconstruct 7 miles of highway to include 12-foot travel lanes and 6-foot shoulders. It aims to improve the road’s horizontal and vertical alignment by reducing hills and curves, improving sightlines, and enhancing safety.
