(Havre) – At 6:14am on Wednesday, the Havre Fire Department was dispatched to the 900 block of fifth avenue for a report of smoke and flames coming from a house
Engine One responded quickly and upon arriving at the scene they saw heavy smoke showing from a two story single family residence. The forced entry through the front door for fire attack and search of the residence for any occupants.
Engine 1 was quickly able to knock the fire down on the first floor, and continue their search for occupants. While searching the main floor engine one’s crew found a single occupant and were able to bring the occupant out to an ambulance crew for an assessment. Unfortunately the occupant did succumb to their injuries from the fire.
Fire crews continued to extinguish smoldering hot spots inside the residence and remained on the scene until 9:45am. Havre fire responded with 3 engines, 2 ambulances, and a command vehicle with 17 total people.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Havre Fire Department give their condolences to the fire victim’s family. The name of the deceased has not been released.
