HAVRE – Hill County Commissioner Jake Strissel announced today he is seeking re-election to a second term on the Hill County Commission. Strissel represents District 1, which includes western Hill County and parts of Havre.
Citing a record of steady leadership, advocacy, and a commitment to implementing consistency in managing the affairs of Hill County, Strissel noted during his first term he maintained a focus on responsible governance, employee retention, and ensuring Hill County’s voice is heard at the state and federal levels.
“I take the responsibility of representing all residents of Hill County seriously and have developed partnerships at every level of government – as well as with private entities – that have benefitted and will continue to benefit our county and its residents,” Strissel said.
During his first term, Strissel played a key role in increasing wages for county employees to improve retention, preserve institutional knowledge, and make county employment more competitive with the private sector. These efforts have helped stabilize staffing and ensure continued delivery of essential public services.
Strissel’s leadership has been recognized beyond Hill County. Governor Greg Gianforte appointed him to serve on the Montana Commission on Community Service, where he works to strengthen volunteerism and community-based initiatives across the state. Additionally, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen appointed Strissel to the Opioid Abatement Committee, where he helps guide the responsible use of settlement funds to address substance use and support community recovery efforts.
Strissel has prioritized regular communication with Montana’s congressional delegation and state legislators, advocating for Hill County’s needs on issues ranging from infrastructure and public safety to agriculture and workforce challenges.
If re-elected, Strissel says he will continue focusing on fiscal responsibility, employee support, and consistent leadership that reflects the values and priorities of Hill County residents.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve done over the last six years,” he said. “There’s more to do, and I’m committed to continuing to serve with integrity, transparency, and consistency.”
