Bozeman, MT – Back in mid-February the Montana State University Bobcat football program announced the hiring of former bobcat, Bobby Daly, as the new defensive coordinator.
Daly played linebacker for the Bobcats and was an assistant from 2019 to 2024. Bobby rejoins the Montana State after as season as the defensive coordinator at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP).
Daly still sits at fourth all time in total tackles a Bobcat with 382. In his playing time at MSU Bobby earned multiple Big Sky and All-American honors in both 2007 and 2008.
Daly was an assistant and linebackers coach at Idaho for six years before returning to Bozeman in 2019. In his time as a linebackers Bobby coach multiple All-Conference and All-American selections at both MSU and Idaho. As a Bobcat linebackers coach he helped MSU become the eleventh scoring defense in 2024.
The Bobcats will open the 2026 season in St George, UT against the Trailblazers of Utah Tech on August 29 with kickoff time to be announced.
