Havre, MT – Havre Northstar baseball played five games at the Gallatin Valley Outlaws invite over the weekend. Havre battled hard through all five games but only saw victory twice.
The Northstars dominated Lewistown in the early game Saturday to claim their first win on the weekend 16-2. Havre was in control from the jump leading 4-0 after the first inning. The Northstars stayed hot and ended the game in four innings after scoring five runs in the third and three runs in the fourth inning.
Quin Elliot led the team from the plate with four hits for five RBIs. Both Hayden Berreth and Maddox Keller threw two strike outs.
The second game the Northstars won was the last game of the weekend against the Cody Wyoming Cubs. Once again Havre only needed four innings to close out their opponent, and it was a hot start from the plate leading the way. The Northstars knocked home 5 runs in the first and four runs in the second and third innings to hold a 13-1 lead.
Havre capped the game off with one run in the fourth inning on a ground out from Quin Elliot. While on the mound Archer Sawdey pitched all four innings for Havre throwing two strikeouts and giving up four hits.
The Northstarts did take a loss in the first game of the tournament Friday night to Gallatin Valley 12-3. The other two losses come by way of the Bozeman Bucks Saturday afternoon 18-6 and the Bitterroot Red Sox Sunday Morning 9-1.
Next up the Northstars will head to Fort MacLeod for a rescheduled conference double header Tuesday, June 16 with first pitch of game one at 3p.m.
After that Havre makes the trip to Lewistown for another tournament this week Thursday through Sunday with opponents and game times to be announced.
