(NMB) – Recently the Fort Belknap Indian Community (FBIC) was awarded a grant through the Rural and Tribal Assistance pilot program.
William Main Jr., Director of the FBIC Road Department, tells us about the project the funding is intended for.
“Last year in 2025 we submitted a grant to the RTA program, Tribal Assistance Pilot Program and that’s under the Build America Act. The grant will fund essential pre-development activities require for route 11. This will be a rehabilitation project. We’ll be getting this construction ready. The activities under this grant will include preliminary engineering, EPA compliance, topographic surveys, right of way verification, archeological clearance and preparation of final plans.”
