FWP “Kids to Fish” Program

(FWP GLASGOW) – FWP staff has restocked and maintained over 350 fishing rods in most of 40 different location sites along the Hi-Line for the “Kids to Fish” program, which lets anglers check out fishing rods and reels already equipped with basic tackle. Typically, eight rods are at each location, and some places have a tackle box available to borrow/use the available tackle.
Anglers are expected to sign out equipment, and return it in good working order, if possible. If anyone is looking to check out a large number of rods (over 20) for a particular event, please contact either the Glasgow or Havre FWP offices.
If poles are continually lost or stolen, the program will need to make the necessary changes, and location sites may be removed. Some sites that haven’t seen much use have had poles relocated elsewhere with more opportunities.
Rods and tackle are currently available to check out at the following locations: The Grocery Store in Big Sandy, Liberty Quick Stop in Chester, Finley’s Food Farm in Chinook, EZ Mart in Harlem, FWP Havre Office, the Havre Hill County Library, and the Fresno Tavern in the Havre area, Pa’s Loma Mart, and the Phillips County Library and Westside Self Service in Malta.
