As construction continues throughout different sections of Havre, Public Works Director Trevor Mork sat down with New Media Broadcasters to dive into one specific action they’re hoping improves pedestrian safety.
“There was a streets and sidewalks committee meeting to discuss speed controls on 1st avenue and in that discussion, we’re trying to do some measures to make sure people are aware of that speed zone and one way of doing that was applying a… what we’ll call Zebra Markings for the crosswalk. So that kind of lets people know that there will be the likeliness of pedestrians in that area, and we’re trying to get that into other areas around. Especially around schools, parks, and other areas frequented by pedestrians and especially youth.”
