(Helena) – Montana’s workforce and economy reached historic milestones in 2025, driven by a record-high labor force and rapid wage growth.
According to the state’s newly released Labor Day Report, Montana’s labor force climbed to more than 577,800 people last year. The statewide average annual wage hit a record $62,290. That wage growth ranks as the second-fastest in the nation and marks the third consecutive year that pay increases outpaced inflation.
Governor Greg Gianforte praised the numbers, stating that wages are at record highs while the unemployment rate remains near record lows, averaging 3.3 percent. Since 2020, the state has added more than 46,000 jobs, with healthcare leading recent industry growth by adding over 1,200 positions last year.
