(MSUN) MSU-Northern students brought home national honors after competing against some of the country’s top career and technical education students at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference.
Northern’s medalists were:
Maxwell Morrey — Silver in Power Equipment Technology
Tithen(Tie-then) FitzGerald — Bronze for Technical Drafting and
Sterling Shelton — Bronze in Automotive Service
The students advanced to the national competition after placing first in their respective state competitions. They spent countless hours practicing and refining their skills while also participating in SkillsUSA fundraising and community service activities.
Shelton, president of Northern’s SkillsUSA Club, said the students were proud to represent Northern and Montana and he hopes the club will continue to grow and send even more students to the national competition.
