(Bozeman) – An angler killed a grizzly bear in self-defense last week in the Tom Miner Basin. The encounter happened on August 30th on private land along Tom Miner Creek.
The confrontation happened when two anglers were walking through dense vegetation it was then they were charged by a grizzly bear. One of the anglers shot and killed the bear. No people were injured.
It is assumed the bear’s behavior was likely defensive after being scared by the two anglers. The bear was found to be an adult male grizzly.
This incident is still under investigation.
