HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The University of Montana’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is bringing their 47th Annual Economic Outlook Seminar back to Havre.
The stop on the Hi-Line is the last of nine seminars being held across the state and is set for Wednesday, March 16th at Hensler Auditorium on the campus of MSU-Northern.
It will take place from 8 AM-1 PM and includes lunch, as will the seminar on the 15th in Lewistown at Central Montana Head Start.
Patrick Barkey is the Director of the BBER and says that the seminar will discuss the outlook for 2022 of the economy locally and throughout the state.
“It still remains a fairly optimistic one. There has been pretty strong growth in Montana and many parts of the state in 2021 as the economy reopened. We expect 2022 to be another year of above trend growth, but slower than last year.”
Local area panelists will highlight trends and developments in their communities.
“It’s going to be in-depth analysis of key industries like agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, high-tech, healthcare. And it’s an attempt to really hear from a whole panel of experts on what’s ahead for those key industries, as well as looking at the problems that have beset the economy in the last few years, especially this year. Number one being inflation, but also talking about housing, which is a theme for the program. And of course, the labor force.”
Those that register do have the option of getting continuing education credits.
The cost is $90 per person, $25 for local Montana University System students and staff, or $60 per person for groups of five or more. Additional information can be found at economicoutlookseminar.com or by calling 406-243-5113.
