RED LODGE, Mont. (NMB) – Officials with Yellowstone National Park say that the iconic Beartooth Highway will remain temporarily closed until hazardous winter conditions improve.
The road, which connects Red Lodge with the northeast entrance to Yellowstone, was open for just a few hours on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend before a snowstorm forced it to close back down.
Segments of the highway have 4-6 feet of snow that need to be cleared, and more precipitation is expected in the coming days.
Crews will wait to clear the snow until it is safe to do so, and the highway will reopen when conditions allow.
