Billings Fatal

BILLINGS, Mont. – A 53-year-old man died in the hospital after a single-car crash near Airport Road and North 27th Street on Sunday night, according to a press release from the Billings Police Department (BPD).

The crash occurred at around 10:23 p.m. BPD officers arrived and found the driver, who was the car’s sole occupant, unresponsive.

“The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on Airport Road, east of North 27th Street, when the driver experienced an apparent medical emergency,” BPD said. “The vehicle crossed the median, struck a sign and continued westbound the the grassy area along the south side of Airport Road.”

The car traveled over a steep embankment, landed in a pedestrian path and then hit the tunnel beneath North 27th Street.

BPD said the man was transported to the hospital and died despite lifesaving efforts.
