BILLINGS, Mont. (NMB) – A 31-year-old Billings man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a truck while walking across the street.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the driver of the Ford F150, a 19-year-old man from Billings, was detained by authorities after being pulled over a few blocks away from the scene.
The incident occurred at 8:47 PM at the intersection of Central Avenue and Santa Fe Drive in Billings, and the pedestrian reportedly was walking in the crosswalk during a no-walk signal. Witnesses state that the truck was westbound and had a green light to cross the intersection.
Alcohol and excessive speed are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
