(Billings) – 15-year-old Billings boy died Sunday evening following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Yellowstone Trail in Yellowstone County.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. near Dickey Road.
State troopers report that the teenager was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road. Investigators say the truck reentered the roadway, but the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to exit the road a second time on the right side. The pickup truck then rolled over, and the driver was ejected.
Authorities noted that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Speed is suspected to be a contributing factor in the incident, while road conditions were reported as bare and dry. The victim was transported to Billings Clinic, where he was pronounced dead. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash.
