CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – Once again, Blaine County authorities will be helping provide safe rides home this New Year’s Eve throughout the county.
Blaine County Sheriff John Colby says his department, along with the Blaine County DUI Task Force, the Chinook Police Department and volunteers, will be providing the rides.
“We should probably have five officers working, and then three other people that are volunteering to give rides. Along with Chinook Police Department, which I believe has two working this New Year’s.”
Colby says he hopes people take advantage of this program, rather than putting themselves and others at risk on the roads.
“It’s just a very good program that first off, keeps people from getting arrested for a DUI. Second off, it keeps people safe and (decreases) the number of accidents.”
This service is offered throughout the year, but there are more people providing rides on New Year’s Eve.

People that utilize the rides will also be entered into a drawing to win a gift card.
