(Chinook) – With the Blaine County Fair in full swing for the town of Chinook New Media Broadcasters talked with Debbie Ramburg the Blaine County Fair Manager about what people can expect at this year’s fair.
“Well, we have a carnival they are the Kids Fun Zone and Amusements out of the Great Falls then Thursday and Friday night we have the PRCA Rodeo both starting at 7:00 then on Saturday night we have Darryl Worley and that’s starting at 7:00 as well.”
She also talked about what people can expect to see at the rodeo and other events.
“Thursday and Friday nights are the PRCA Rodeo, Friday night is the outhouse races and then just your normal rodeo events. It sounds like they have a full house for contestants this year so that’s a good thing and then we will have Cole Klieinert from the Sunburst area opening up for Darryl Worley and then after the beer garden band is the Milk River Band from Havre.”
She goes on to talk about what types of entertainment they have set for the fair.
“We have some people that want to volunteer to play some music you know just on a stage. A local family here, and then I’m not sure what their schedule is going to be yet. We do have Pippy the clown who will be strolling around or in the commercial building painting faces we have a bungee trampoline and battle balls and games with the carnival we have a stunt jump, a rock wall, and a dizzy X maze coming from Montana’s Premiere Event out of Billings and hopefully I think we’re working on getting a mechanical bull.”
She also explains why there will be no demolition Derby this year.
“Well, the family that has been putting it on for the last 17 years was ready to retire and several different reasons why we thought we would try a concert and see how things went there are the county will no longer cover the insurance. So that was out of our pocket. And then Glasgow moved their fair date to the same weekend as ours, so we figured that was probably going to affect us. The numbers were down, the car numbers were down, it’s not a whole lot of fun anymore to watch cars when they hit each other nothing happens to them. You know they build them like a tank anymore and so we just decided it was time to try something new.”
