CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – Once again, the Blaine County DUI Task Force, Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, and Chinook Police Department are all teaming up to help provide free safe rides home this holiday season throughout the county.
Blaine County Sheriff John Colby provides the details:
“Right now we’re doing it from bars or houses if people are getting together. If people need a ride home and they’ve been drinking and don’t feel comfortable driving, they can call. We’ll pick them up and give them a ride to their residence.”
Colby adds that this service can be utilized anywhere in Blaine County.
“I know we’ve taken people to Hays a couple of times, a couple we’ve taken up to Turner, and one I think we went 30 miles south.”
To request a ride, call either the Sheriff’s Office at 357-3260 or the Chinook Police Department at 357-3170.
“It’s a wonderful way to make sure you don’t have any unintended expenses throughout the holiday season. It’s just a great way to make sure people get home safe and we don’t have any tragedies over the holidays.”
Those needing rides will be asked to wear a mask, which can be provided at no cost upon request.
People that utilize the rides will also be entered into a drawing to win a gift card.
This service is offered throughout the year, but demand is greatest over the holidays.
