(Helena) Historically, those that are blind and visually impaired were required to ask for assistance to receive their preferred party ballot in a primary election, which revealed their voting intentions to whomever was assisting.
Now, according to Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, this is no longer a requirement, as those that are blind and visually impaired are given the opportunity to select their ballot for the primaries in total secrecy.
Secretary Jacobsen is calling this a “colossal victory” for blind and visually impaired Montana voters, saying that this is progress for the accessibility and security of the Montana voting system.
