Blue Ponies Jette and Keeley Selected for Veterans Memorial Softball Classic

HAVRE, Mont. — Rosters have been released for this year’s 12th annual Nicholas Bloem Veterans Memorial Softball Classic. The event brings together the best high school softball players in the state who come together to showcase their talents while honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. A pair of Blue Ponies will be playing in the event. Rachel Jette will be on the Coast Guard Team and Camille Keeley will be playing for the Army. We caught up with Blue Pony Head Coach Tony Vigliotti who said both girls definitely earned the spot in the event.

“Absolutely, first of all they were both all state players for us. Rachel had a great year in the circle winning 12 of our games and Camille led us in hits and RBI’s and was solid behind the plate the last four years. We are sad to see them both graduate, but they earned their spot in this game, and they’ve been great leaders and above that they’re great kids.”

Five teams will represent each branch of the military and play in a three-game guarantee tournament. The two-day schedule will feature 10 games. Also included in the schedule is skills competition including home run derby, base running contest and a catcher’s pop to pop.

The Veterans Memorial Classic is always held in Belgrade and this year’s dates are August 1st and 2nd.
