Havre, MT – Last week Havre High Blue Pony Girls basketball team came up short in the Divisional Championship game but still punched their ticket to state.
The Blue Ponies claimed victories over Laurel in the first round (60-45) before defeating Hardin in the semifinal 42-35.
Havre was set for a rematch with Billings Central in the Championship game. The Ponies fell 44-36.
Head Coach Tommy Brown told New Media Broadcasters his team still feels confident heading into the state tournament despite the loss.
“The main goal of the divisional tournament for us is always to punch your ticket to the state tournament. Kids did a great job coming out with those two wins and earning the invite to the state tournament so we’re keeping our heads high.”
The Blue Ponies await their opponent out the western divisional. The Class A State Tournament will be held at the Four seasons Areana in Great Falls March 12-14.
