The Havre High volleyball season is set to begin on Friday with a bunch of games elapsing two days of competition at the Helena Tip-Off. Before that, New Media Broadcasters got the thoughts of Ponies volleyball coach Cassie Krueger, who discussed the recent “Blue/White Scrimmage” that took place over last weekend. She said how encouraged she was with the progress of her players in only her second season at the helm.
“Some of the biggest takeaways were how well our baseline is in going into this second season of my coaching,” Krueger said. “The girls have really adapted and they’ve increased their fundamentals and knowledge of the game. It puts less work in going into the season so that we can jump ahead a little bit further.”
“Their offensive strategies are fantastic. Our setters are setting where we want them to,” Krueger continued. “The hitters are putting away the ball and the defense has just been fantastic as well.”
Now that the start of the season is officially here, Coach Krueger gave the New Media Broadcasters listeners a sense of the chaos that will take place in Helena as the Ponies face many different teams to begin play.
“We have 10 games this weekend,” Krueger said. “Some of the opponents are going to be extremely difficult, so it’s going to be very fun to see where we stand against them.”
“We open against Billings Central on Friday morning at 10:45 and we also play teams like Hardin, Fergus, and Dawson County,” Krueger continued. “It’ll be a really fun weekend to just see where we stand overall and go up against those good opponents.”
Updates to the Blue Pony volleyball games on Friday and Saturday from Helena will be displayed on the Havre High Volleyball Facebook page. The NFHS Network will also be broadcasting the Helena Tip-Off Tournament from Friday to Saturday.
