(NMB) – Now with an East and West divisions, Frontier Conference football will look much different. This is part 7 of the daily realignment brake down series with Montana State-Northern Athletic director Christen Oberquell.
Yesterday’s segment broke down how the Frontier conference east division is structured. Today’s segment will look at the west division and get a glimpse at how the two divisions affect automatic bids to the NAIA football playoff.
“On the western side of the bracket you’re going to have Montana Western, Carroll College, College of Idaho, Arizona Christion, Simpson College out of California they’re gonna be new, Southern and Eastern Oregon are gonna play.” Oberquell said about who is in the division. MSU-N AD then shed some light on how the two divisions will affect automatic bids to the NAIA football playoff. “Whoever wins our east is gonna get an automatic bid and whoever wins our west is gonna get an automatic bid. We are not gonna have a playoff as such, you know number one vs number 2, and then anybody else ranked in the top 20 after that will also get in playoffs, so we could possibly have three teams in the playoffs.
Simpson and Arizona Western are Frontier football conference members only and even out the league and each division.
