HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Steve Bullock hosted a press call Friday, April 17 and announced Montana will slowly start reopening in phases after the Stay at Home order expires April 24.
Bullock said Montana has flattened the curve and with advice from public health experts, local providers and business leaders Montana will slowly start reopening as long as there is not a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases.
To reopen in phases, Bullock mentioned three steps that Montana has to meet before this happens.
First, there must be a sustained reduction in new cases for 14 days.
Second, hospitals need to be able to treat all patients with all conditions.
Third, hospitals need to test all people with COVID-19 symptoms and be able to actively monitor those patients.
Bullock said the reopening will not be immediate but he will update Montanans next week on how Montana will begin to slowly reopen and what the phases will look like.
As of Friday Afternoon, ten Montanans have died from COVID-19 and there are currently 422 cases.
