COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – The Flathead Beacon reports that a California woman is facing an aggravated animal cruelty charge after allegedly leaving 17 horses to starve.
Cynthia Jean Hamilton, 68, allegedly inadequately fed 17 horse on various properties in Flathead County, and law enforcement says she left them “in various stages of starvation.”
The investigation began on September 19th after law enforcement received an animal cruelty complaint and found five poorly fed horses at a Columbia Falls area residence.
Authorities later discovered there were more horses belonging to Hamilton throughout Flathead County, all of which were in poor condition.
The horses have since been seized by animal control and are being taken care of by the government.
Hamilton allegedly told law enforcement she could not afford to feed the animals.
