FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – On Tuesday, the Fort Belknap Indian Community Council met in a special session to consider the River Assiniboine District Seat on the Council. The Tribe says the initial electronic vote count for each candidate was 171 votes for each candidate. Four additional counts were made, each resulting in 171 votes for Donald “Duck” Horn and 170 for Nathaniel Mount.
During the Special Council meeting, Mount stated his desire to concede the outcome of the election and the Council voted to accept his concession. The Council also voted to return the matter to the Election Committee for conclusion.
The Committee then met and voted to also accept Mount’s concession and voted to approve the outcome of the November 5th, 2019 election for the River Assiniboine District seat.
