(NMB) The general deer hunting season opens this Saturday October 24th in Montana. There are some changes in the amount of deer tags resident hunters can have this year. Fish, Wildlife and Parks Communication and Education Manager for Region 6 Marc Kloker explains.
“Resident hunters are only allowed up to three deer licenses or tags and so that would be, you choose to get a general deer license which you can harvest either sex or either species as long as it’s approved on the place you are hunting and two antlerless licenses or doe tags. So, that’s changed from years past when folks could hold up to seven antlerless or doe licenses and one general tag”
FWP reminds hunters to always confirm the specific regulations and boundary descriptions for your targeted hunting district, and you can do that on the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website.
The general deer season runs October 24th through November 29th
