Chinook Basketball Gets Mixed Results in Rocky Boy

On Friday night, Chinook basketball traveled out to Rocky Boy for a doubleheader and split the action. The boys’ dropped a (60-45) game to the Northern Stars, while the girls’ picked up a (73-33) victory over the Morning Stars.

For the boys’ (2-4, 1-2 in the 1B), the game was competitive through one quarter, trailing by just one point, (10-9). From there, Rocky Boy was able to put the clamp down on defense and score at will offensively. Chinook was led by Jameson Nordboe with 21 points, while Aeron Gopher scored 21 points for the Northern Stars.

The Beeter girls’ (6-0, 3-0) had a competitive fight on their hands early on, only leading by 15 at the break. The defense was key to start and finish as Chinook allowed four first quarter points and two points in the fourth quarter. Addison Olsen picked up the game-high honors of 16 points. Hannah Schoen finished with 15 points, while Brooke Fetter and Alexus Seymour had 13 points apiece.

The Sugarbeeters will return to the court on Saturday, barring weather. They will host Choteau with coverage starting around 4pm on KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com. Kyle Leeds will call the action from Floyd-Bowen Gym.
