The Chinook basketball teams were on court early Friday morning to face Eureka at the Shelby Coyote Classic. The boys’ fell first, (63-54), while the girls’ team dominated, (73-31).
For the Beeter boys (1-1), they were outscored in every quarter, but by the slimmest of margins. The biggest quarter for the Lions was the second with a (15-9) edge. Chinook had three double-digit scorers, led by Carson Nissen’s 18, followed by Ryan Bell’s 15 and Landen Beck’s 12.
The Beeter girls’ (2-0) were already doubling up the Lady Lions by the end of the first quarter, (16-8). Chinook again outscored Eureka by eight in the second quarter, (19-11) before coming out in the second half on a (25-7) run in the third quarter. Eureka was only held to 12 total points in the second half as the intensity was again turned up on the defensive end for the Sugarbeeters. Alexus Seymour had a monster outing with 27 points, while Brooke Fetter dropped 15 and Hannah Schoen contributed 11.
Chinook will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against Belt. The boys’ game tips off around 3pm, while the girls will go around 4:30pm from the Shelby Coyote Classic.
