The Chinook Sugarbeeters wrapped up the Shelby Coyote Classic basketball tournament on Saturday afternoon with a split. The boys’ lost to Belt, (70-52), while the girls’ beat the Huskies, (57-45).
For the boys’ (1-2), they trailed the majority of the game, being outscored by 16 points in the first quarter and by 12 in the third quarter. The Beeters did have two double-digit scorers in Carson Nissen (18 points) and Ryan Bell (12 points).
The Chinook girls’ (3-0) played good defense, holding the Huskies to just seven points in the opening eight minutes. Alexus Seymour has been on a mission to start, following up her 27 points on Friday with a 24-point performance on Saturday, going 9-for-12 from the free throw line in the process. Brooke Fetter also contributed 13 points.
Chinook basketball will have its first home games on Thursday night, hosting Fort Benton. Kyle Leeds will be on the call for KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com starting around 6pm.
