The start of the 2023-24 high school basketball season is on the horizon. The Chinook Sugarbeeters open up their campaign one week from Friday when they head down to Choteau to take on the Bulldogs.
The Beeters will have three returners from a season ago. First year coach Bill Bell breaks down who those three are and how he sees them fitting into his coaching schemes.
“Jackson Nordboe is our returning senior starter and I see him being a team leader, contributing vocally, but as well in points and rebounds and just being an overall leader on the floor,” Bell said. “The other returning starters would be Landen Beck, who I’m guessing will fill in as a point guard. Also, we have Carson Nissen, who was one of the top scorers consistently last year.”
Chinook boys’ and girls’ basketball is heading to Class ‘B’ this season. Coach Bell breaks down how he thinks the team will do against different opponents than the Beeters are used to seeing in recent memory
“I think it’s anybody’s guess and the only reason I say that is (because) this is the first year for the Sugarbeeters returning back to Class ‘B’,” Bell said. “We’ll be in ‘1B’ with Rocky Boy, Fairfield, (and other) teams like that. I do know in the past few years that those teams have consistently been good.”
“We’ll just have to put in our best effort and prepare in practice every day for whoever our opponents are and we’ll do our best,” Bell continued.
Again, the Beeters open up the season against Choteau on the road floor Dec. 1.
